together with my wonderful colleagues & cats: Christoph Cech, Andi Schreiber and Peter Herbert.
New dates: From October 2021 – June 2023 (8 weekends in total).
15 pieces for learning and playing the „groovebowing“ technique and Latin American rhythms.
The Groovebowing Technique, my book on groovebowing with 12 duet tunes, is available for cello or violin.
This booklet offers an easy way to learn a special, groove-oriented bowing technique you can use for playing all kinds of rhythmically intricate music. It’s also a great way to train & practice basic rhythmic skills on string instruments.
This book focusses on typical rhythms and patterns of Latin American music, but the groovebowing technique (sometimes also called „Bossa-Strich“ or „strum-bowing“) is also used by cellists and fiddlers in a large range of vernacular styles such as jazz, bluegrass or rock. The difficulty of the 15 pieces increases gradually, adding new rhythmic elements step by step. They can all be played solo or as a duo.
For 1-2 cellos, intermediate level, published by Ponticello-Edition (in German).
Here are audio files of all tunes in the Groovestrich-Schule
Use them as playalongs or just for listening. Cello #1 is on the right, cello #2 is on the right side. You’ll hear 4 beats before every piece to count you in
A purely pizzicato tune with a variety of plucking techniques
„Music that lets the cello turn into a guitar! … a welcome diversion to the classical cello repertoire.“ (das Orchester 09/2013)
26 easy to intermediate jazz pieces for string ensemble with teachers‘ handbook
Groovy Strings - Rhythmus & Groove im Streichunterricht
How do you groove on a string instrument? „Groovy Strings“ offers an introduction to basics and methods, exercises for rhythm and body percussion and, above all, 26 original pieces for all stringed instruments.
The pieces can be flexibly combined in trio settings and duets, so you can use them both for ensemble and individual instruction. It includes a rich collection of material on CD-ROM with playalongs for all tunes, videos showing playing techniques and playing score pdfs for all instruments of the string family.

A collection of 13 tango etudes and 3 concert pieces
How to play Argentine Tango authentically on string instruments.
Inspired by Otokar Ševčík’s classical bowing method books, I collected typical bowing techniques, rhythms and patterns most commonly used in tango and wrote an etude about each of them. That way, aspiring tangueros can concentrate on one aspect of tango at a time. Etude by etude, new elements are introduced and explained.
Available for cello or for violin. For advanced students. The explanatory texts are in German – an English translation is also available.
For cello solo, for duo, trio, and string quartet and also for string orchestra
A wide range of pieces and arrangements
